Alan Desborough sadly died on Thursday, 10 April 2008.
He was a valued member of the DAII Management Committee and the wider disability movement, and played an important role in the struggle for disability equality, accessible transport and independent living. He will be sorely missed.

His funeral was held at Golders Green Crematorium on Thursday, 24 April 2008 and was attended by over one hundred people paying tribute to this extraordinary man.
